Learning management system requirements, like every other system's, arrive as a long list in which some items matter far more than others, and the scoring falls apart when that difference is not written down. This sheet writes it down. Enter the weight of three requirement groups and each vendor's score out of ten against each, and it returns the weighted score per vendor, the gap between them, and what the same scores say unweighted. The worked example is chosen to make the point: both vendors average 7.67 unweighted, an exact tie, and at weights of 45, 35 and 20 they come out 7.50 and 7.45. Vendor A wins by five hundredths of a point, entirely because of how the groups were weighted. That is worth seeing before a decision rests on it, because it means the argument to have is about the weights and not about the scores.
Set the weights before you see the vendors
Weights decided after a demo tend to describe the demo. Agreeing them first, ideally with the departments who own the requirements, turns a subjective comparison into an arithmetic one and makes the result far easier to defend in week ten.
Always read the unweighted pair too
The sheet returns both so you can see whether the weighting is doing real work. When weighted and unweighted disagree about the winner, as they nearly do on the worked example, the weights are deciding and they deserve a proper conversation rather than a nod.
A small gap is a real result
0.05 between two vendors is not a mandate, it is a tie. The honest response is to say so and let something the sheet does not model settle it: the reference calls, the contract terms, or which team you would rather deal with for five years.

Is this really free?

Do my weights have to add to 100?
No. The sheet divides by whatever they sum to, so 9, 7 and 4 works as well as 45, 35 and 20. It returns the total so you can see what you actually entered.
Only three groups?
Three is enough to show whether the weighting changes the answer, which is the point. If you score against eight, run the three carrying most of the weight and check the ranking against your full sheet.
